Largest bird, flower market changed from old factory in Fang

Last weekend, Juxiangyun fish, bird and flower cultural square, the largest fish, bird and flower market in the southwest of Beijing, launched a cultural month activity.

Located in Liangxiang township of Fangshan district, the market is home to rows of neatly arranged indoor shops which sell all kinds of pets, jade pieces, flowers, plants and aquarium fish, instead of traditional outdoor stalls, noisy crowds and disorderly vehicles.

More than a year ago, the market was transformed from a car-repairing and building material-processing factory which had safety hazards and polluted the environment.

“Fangshan district didn’t have a fish, bird and flower market before, so people often found it difficult to buy antiques, calligraphy works, paintings, flowers, birds and pets,” Zhao Junjun, general manager of Juxiangyun fish, bird and flower cultural square, introduced. “Now Juxiangyun fish, bird and flower cultural square can be not only a recreation place for antique enthusiasts, but also an elegant cultural and entertainment venue for surrounding residents like a standardized cultural shopping center,” he said.

Juxiangyun fish, bird and flower cultural square has opened for half a year with a total of more than 160 settled businesses, of which nearly half move from the urban markets in Beijing.
